Though I have loved cooking and eating food for a long time, I’m new to growing my own. Last year, my husband and I moved to an apartment in New York City with a balcony that is about 20′ by 6′. In the spring we began filling the balcony with containers- as many as we could fit while still leaving some space to sit and grill. Last season, we grew a lot of tomatoes and a variety of vegetables and herbs. Though the focus of the garden was on food, we did have a few types of flowers to attract pollinators and deter pests.

We have a lot of fun continuing to develop our little garden, and this blog is a place for us to share our experiences.  I post about the methods we use, the challenges we face, and the successes we have in our quest to grow food. In addition, I post about non-garden related food experiences including food we’ve cooked at home and food we’ve eaten elsewhere. I hope you enjoy reading!
