A Weekend at Home…with Ripe Tomatoes

July 28, 2012

Maybe the tomatoes were waiting for us to be home so we could enjoy them.

This was our appetizer last night.

It is a Zapotec Pleated tomato…

and it was delicious!

There are more on the way.

The big Monomakh’s Hat is finally starting to ripen, too!

Isn’t it a beautiful color?

We have also gotten some Tiny Tim cherry tomatoes.

I put two on a wrap with this Spicy Sriracha White Bean Dip, which was great.

I’m hopeful about the cucumber situation.

See the little one growing on the left?

We followed up our tomato appetizer with a great dinner.

Arugula salad with garlic croutons, shaved pecorino, and lemon based on this recipe.

Which was perfect alongside some lamb steaks.

We finished the meal with strawberry shortcake.

I’m looking forward to more cooking at home in the week to come!
