One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Bluefish and Other Recent Meals

Okay, so we didn’t have any red fish. We did however, have two filets of Bluefish for dinner this evening. Thank you, Dr. Seuss, for some entertainment during the preparation.

Bluefish was the latest of our Sunday night experiments with local fish. We were a bit nervous because the vendor told us the bluefish was something people either love or hate because it is a bit fishy. However, we didn’t find it to be too fishy at all. It had a nice texture and the flavor was pretty mild. We followed this recipe for Bluefish with Yogurt Sauce. The yogurt sauce was similar to tzatiki.

Since the broiler was already going, we broiled the asparagus and then topped it with lemon and parmesan. It was delicious.

This afternoon we took a trip to Flushing with Jeremy’s family for mother’s day. We went back to a few places we had been before and added a couple of new favorites to the list. Some of the highlights were the soup dumplings and scallion pancake with beef at Nan Xiang Dumpling House and the peking duck rolls from the stand by Corner 28.

Saturday night I got home late from a trip for work and Jeremy made a great dinner. We had pork chops, roasted fingerling potatoes, and sauteed leeks, shallots, and onions in soy, honey, ginger sauce.

For dessert we had strawberries from the garden! Here are the first two we harvested.

    The strawberries look almost too perfect to be real. Yum.
