First Foods of Fall

September 18, 2011

Sorry for the delay in getting a new post up. It’s been a good, but busy couple of weeks with school starting up. Here are some highlights from the kitchen.

We celebrated the first Sunday of football with nachos. We topped them with delicious chorizo from Sun Fed Beef.

Wax bean salad with olive oil, parmesan, and basil.

Jeremy made tomato sauce with Ace 55 tomatoes and basil from our garden.

Our biggest broccoli florets of the year! Of course there were only 3 of them, but we enjoyed them nonetheless.

He used the sauce to make this beautiful and delicious eggplant parmesan. A few of the broccoli florets are from the garden but most are from the store.

I used the How to Cook Everything recipe for banana bread which used shredded coconut. It was delicious, particularly when spread with Nutella. I don’t know why I never thought of that before.

The crisp fall air we’ve had for the last couple of days has made me crave all things apple. So far this weekend I’ve had apples, apple cider, and apple pie. Above is apple cider with whipped cream sprinkled with  caramel sugar.
