Home Cooking

May 2, 2011

Though the food we had in Germany was delicious, after a week of vacation we were excited to cook some meals for ourselves (and go more than a day without eating sausage). We made some simple and delicious meals during the week, but after a trip to the farmer’s market on Saturday, we took on some more complex dishes.

Saturday night we made seared scallops and roasted asparagus with bacon and parmesan (based on Mark Bittman’s article in the NYTimes).

Tonight we made Crispy Roast Lemon Chicken (from a Cooks’ Illustrated Recipe) with Spatzle (using our new spatzle press from Germany) and sauteed ramps.

I also attempted to make peanut butter granola bars. The result was mostly yummy peanut butter granola; only a few actually stayed together as bars. I’ll have to make some adjustments and give it another shot soon.
