New Sprouts

April 25, 2011

April 14th:

By mid-April most of the seeds had sprouted including the thyme, chives, parsnips, broccoli, kale, bok choi, and the sugar snow peas. Even the radishes, which had been planted less than a week earlier, seemed to know it was spring. At this point 5 of the other 7 tomato varieties had sprouted. When we planted the tomato seeds we weren’t sure how many seeds to put in each container. We ended up planting between 10 and 20 tomato seeds of each variety in one half gallon milk jug or a 2 liter soda bottle. However, only one or two sprouts came up in most containers (the tiny tim tomatoes were the exception). Some ended up sprouting a few more later on.
