While we were away, our friend who lives around the corner kindly watered both the bonsai we received as a wedding gift and the vegetables on the balcony. All of them looked happy and healthy when we returned. The bonsai, thankfully, was the same size, but all of the vegetables had grown significantly. After checking on them every day, it was exciting to see a week’s worth of growth all at once. Here are the most recent pictures.

In order: Mesclun mix, spinach, basil, bok choi, radishes, more mesclun mix, thyme, broccoli, peas, tiny tim tomato, kale, chives.

Both the spinach and the mesclun mix are probably big enough to start harvesting. The one problem is figuring out what to do with such a small amount! Even with seven spinach plants, only harvesting a few leaves from each would make for somewhat meager portions. We’ll have to just eat a very small salad soon.

New plantings today included the Marketmore 76 Cucumbers and Royalty Purple Pod Beans.
